The Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 is a next-generation telephoto zoom for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras. It features a constant f/2.8 aperture, optical image stabilization (VC), custom modes, and a function button. The lens is relatively lightweight and compact for its class, with robust weather-sealed construction and a fluorine-coated front element. The optical design includes 20 elements in 15 groups, delivering super-sharp images, lovely bokeh, and well-controlled color fringing. Autofocus is fast, precise, and silent, compatible with Sony's advanced AF features. The G2 improves on its predecessor with better edge sharpness, less fringing at the long end, and more customization. Slight pincushion distortion is present but easily corrected. Handling is excellent, and the lens offers outstanding value for a pro-grade telephoto zoom.
